Indian Railways is set to revolutionize the passenger experience with the introduction of a ‘Super App’ by the end of December 2024. This initiative aims to consolidate various services into a single, user-friendly platform, enhancing convenience for millions of travelers across the country.
Key Features of the Super App:
- Seamless Ticket Booking: Passengers can effortlessly book train tickets, check seat availability, select preferred classes, and apply for concessions, streamlining the reservation process.
- Digital Platform Passes: For the first time, users will be able to generate platform passes directly through the app, eliminating the need to queue at ticket counters.
- Onboard Food Delivery: Travelers can pre-order meals from a variety of partner restaurants and vendors, ensuring fresh and quality food delivered right to their seats.
- Real-Time Train Tracking: The app will provide accurate, up-to-date information on train locations, estimated arrival times, and potential delays, keeping passengers informed throughout their journey.
Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the Super App will integrate existing services such as the IRCTC Rail Connect for ticketing, UTS for unreserved tickets, e-Catering’s Food on Track, Rail Madad for grievances, and the National Train Enquiry System for live train status. This consolidation aims to provide a unified and efficient user experience.
The launch of this Super App aligns with Indian Railways’ broader mission to modernize and digitize services, addressing key pain points that travelers face and significantly reducing the need for multiple applications.
By offering an all-in-one solution, Indian Railways is set to enhance the overall passenger experience, making travel more convenient and efficient for millions across the nation.
